One World Centre: SchoolsAlong with the other members of the IDEAS Schools Forum and in partnership with statutory bodies, we are working towards a national strategy which will embed global citizenship in Scottish formal education. This is part of a UK-wide initiative funded by the Department for International Development (DfID) aimed at enabling effective support for the global dimension in education. Locally this means offering support to teachers throughout Dundee, Fife, Angus and Perth & Kinross.
A banner illustrated by P7 pupils of Glebelands Primary School, Dundee As well as providing resources exploring issues of global citizenship across all areas of the curriculum, the Development Education Worker (Schools) will be happy to give advice on appropriate resources for topic work, subject areas and whole school initiatives. We provide CPD courses to help teachers:
Courses can be Twilight Sessions, half- day or full-day In-Service, and can include a package of resources in the cost of the sessions. Courses offered include:
All courses are participatory and will be linked to A Curriculum for Excellence. All can be tailored to the needs of individual schools or local authorities.
