Management

The Centre is a Registered Scottish Charity and is run by its trustees who form the Centre's Management Committee. The trustees are elected each year at the Centre's AGM.

The trustees contribute through a wide range of experience in education, management and voluntary activity. Many are also involved with other development and environmental organisations.

The Centre has a number of part-time staff and several volunteers. We are keen to expand our volunteer activities and welcome others who would like to be involved. Please contact us by emailing admin@oneworldcentredundee.org.uk

Annual Report 2010-2011

Our Annual Report covers the main activities of the Centre for the current year.

The Management Committee has been strengthened this year with new members. We had an away day to formulate strategic plans for the Centre's future. The staff and volunteers continue to be the mainstay of the Centre's work in schools and the community.

A major highlight of the year was the completion of our ‘From Dhaka to Dundee’ project. This was celebrated with the launch of the Project Pack which offers teachers many invaluable resources to use in the classroom. Historical links between Dhaka and Dundee (particularly through the jute industry), are the foundation for exploring modern issues of global justice.

Our Schools activities began a focus on the new Global Learning Project. The One World Centre will be the local focus for resources to embed Global Citizenship as a cross-curricular theme in the new Curriculum for Excellence.

Our Community activities included our ‘My World, Your World, Our World’ which encourages young people to develop their own views on global issues.

As usual we were engaged in Fairtrade Fortnight which this year focused on cotton and the clothing industry.
