One World Centre blank space green

Background

The One World Centre is a Development Education Centre set up in 1984 by a group of people who wanted to raise awareness of global issues in Dundee.

A number of development, human rights and environmental groups were involved. Christian Aid provided a small grant and the One World Centre was born.

The Centre moved to its present location at 189 Princes Street in 1995.

In recent years the Centre has focused on Development Education and is committed to campaigning on trade and debt.

Development Education

Development Education covers a wide range of activities which raise awareness of global issues. This starts with our own impact on the world. It includes a critical examination of justice and equality in a multicultural society and interdependent world. Climate change, international development and other global concerns can stimulate ideas for promoting change and improvement.
